The Mini Racing Australia’s 2006 season competed in its second round on the weekend at Wakefield Park with new series sponsor Jennings Machinery Glass with twenty Mini’s lining up for qualifying.

Race one was red flagged on the second lap when Vic Della Valle spun off the track at the top of the circuit. The restart saw Charlie Borg in his Honda powered Mini lead from start to finish but Johm Mallam in his crossflow now fuel injected Mini kept him honest in 2nd place with Bob Bell 3 rd in another of the three Honda engined cars. Peter Crocker & John Walker fought it out for 4 th with Chris Adlam coming 6 th & Henry Draper from Melbourne in his Group “N” car 7 th.

Race two started out with Bob Bell hounding Charlie Borg but on lap two Bell ’s clutch let go leaving Borg to run to the finish easily. Crocker & Mallam fought it out for 2 nd place with only half of a tenth of a second between them at the finish line.Henry Draper finished 4 th with Darren Burnes in another Group “N” Mini 5 th . Chris Adlam in his iron head who started from the rear of the grid fought his way through to a creditably 6 th finish.

Race three was red flagged on lap four and declared when Peter Wilson spun supercharged Mini on his own coolant in turn two. The trophy race was another Borg affair with Crocker 2 nd Adlam 3 rd Mallam 4 th Dennis walker 5 th Della Valle 6 th & Robert Sharp 7 th.

The best improver for the weekend goes to Darryl Blanch from Lithgow in his Honda powered Mini. As this was his first race meeting in a car that he had never been tested or driven before. Darryl lowered his times by a massive six seconds by the end of the day. Another competitor that deserves a mention was Darren Burnes in his Group “N” car as this was also his first race meeting.

Our next round is at Wakefield Park on the 18 th of September so see you all there.
