The Mini Racing Association’s 2007 season opener started
out where it finished last year with Charlie Borg Grabbing Pole
once again with another Honda powered mini driven by Bob Bell on
the front row. John Walker & Chris Adlam in iron head engines
occupied the second row. Wayne Gardner Peter Crocker Henry Draper
John Mallam brad Dubos & Greg Maloure finished of the top ten.
Darryl Blanch had a head gasket problem & Allan Ross broke a
crank & both where sidelined for the day.
Race one saw race favourite Charlie Borg only compete one lap,
which kept him out all day. Bob Bell lead the race to the finish
but not without John Walker keeping the pressure up to him Chris
Adlam finished third with the fastest lap & Peter Crocker was
4 th & first crossflow home. Henry Draper kept Greg Maloure
out for fifth & john Mallam finished seventh with Brian Walden
closely followed in eighth & Wade Thomas ninth & Darren
Burns in an unusual tenth.
Race two was a repeat of race one for the first four places with
a much-improved Robert Sharp fifth & Henry Draper was the 6
th & first Group “N” car home. Brian Walden split
the Group “N” cars to finish seventh Greg Maloure eighth
Wade Thomas once again ninth & Darren Burns tenth.
Race three a Bell Walker & Adlam affair but this time Walker
nearly got his first victory for 2007. Henry Draper & Robert
Sharp where having a great dice for 4 th & fifth with Draper
winning out. Walden finishing in sixth & Darren Burns seventh.
Peter Crocker sub come to mechanical problems and had a DNF along
with Wade Thomas & Wayne Gardiner.
The last race of the day was cancelled due to a severe thunderstorm.
