2007 RULES & REGULATIONS MINI CATAGORY

Rules of Competition.
1. The body shape must be an original Mini sedan (Austin, Morris
or Leyland).
2. All cars must comply with the relevant CAMS rules.
3. All cars must be front wheel drive only.
4. Engines cannot exceed 4 cylinders.
5. Engines are limited to 4 valves per cylinder.
6. Competitors are eligible for points upon payment of an annual
Eligibility Fee (currently $25), to be applied by the MRA toward
operating costs (trophies etc). Competitors must ensure the MRA
Secretary receives this Fee prior to practice at the first meeting.
7. All competitors must display relevant Class Identification.
8. All competitors are subject to the below class structure.
Classes.
Class A. Sports Sedan.
Free to install any engine, gearbox or differential. However, engines
cannot exceed 2000cc and must not be fitted with any form of forced
induction, and gearboxes are restricted to no more than 5 forward
gears.
Class B. Club car ,Improved Production, Combined Tourer .
A crossflow or other non-standard cylinder head on a mass-produced
BMC/Leyland A Series engine block. Must utilise the standard Mini
BMC/Leyland gearbox/differential casing incorporating either standard
or after-market gears.
Cars in this class may be fitted with forced induction and must,
accordingly, carry the increased minimum weight as per CAMS rules.
Class C. Group “N” Invited.
A modified five port cast iron Mini BMC/Leyland A Series cylinder
head on a mass-produced BMC/Leyland A Series engine block. Must
utilise a standard Mini BMC/Leyland gearbox/differential casing
incorporating either standard or after-market gears.
Any car fitted with any form of forced induction shall be elevated
to Class B.
Class D. Rally cars.
As per CAMS rules, but subject further to the above MRA rules.
Cars that are classified as Road Registered shall either be currently
registered or capable of being registered under NSW RTA law and
have a BMC “A” engine power plant fitted to car. Cars
requiring an engineering certificate for registration are not permitted
in this class.
Unless otherwise required by CAMS rules, cars are required to have
a ½ roll cage, full harness and a window net as a minimum
safety standard.
Any car fitted with any form of forced induction shall be elevated
to Class B.
Note:
1. The onus is on the competitor to present their car in a compliant
and legal condition.
2. Remember – “If it’s not in the Rules, you can’t
do it”.
Class Identification.
MRA competitors shall attach a 100x100mm coloured square (eg. Contact)
to each side of their car, spaced at approx. 50mm behind the door
frame and 120mm below the side window.
On the square shall appear a 80mm high letter in white Helvetica
Bold.
Class colours and letters are as follows:-
Class A Black square with letter “A”
Class B Blue square with letter “B”
Class C Red square with letter “C”
Class D Yellow square with letter “D”
A 5mm edge may be required if the background colour does not contrast.
In addition to the above, all competitors must attach the MRA approved
windscreen banner noting the MRA series sponsor. Banners may be
obtained by contacting the MRA Co-ordinator.
Point score.
1. Trophies on race day shall continue to be awarded by the race
promoters to the first 3 outright finishers in the nominated trophy
race (if applicable).
2. MRA points are awarded for each race on a class-by-class basis.
The first car in each class shall be awarded maximum points toward
the annual Championship.
The points awarded per class is 15, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3,
2, 1.
A minimum of 3 cars per class must be entered in the relevant meeting
(ie entry paid and scrutineered) for the maximum points to be awarded.
If only 2 cars in a class are entered, then maximum points awarded
are 12, 10. If only 1 car is entered, then maximum points are 10.
3. The MRA Annual Awards Presentation will recognise the Grand
Champion and Runner-Up, plus 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each class for
categories with more than ten registered cars that have competed
in the class . In the event of a draw for the title of either Mini
Grand Champion or Class Winner, the competitor with the most wins
in their relevant class shall be declared the winner.
